TIMEC Operating Company, Inc. (TIMEC) announced today the acquisition of HRI, Inc., an expert provider to heavy industry of critical maintenance services in ultra high-temperature and confined space environments.

HRI owns the patent on special super heat resistant suits that facilitate safe industrial repair and inspection work in workplaces that can reach up to 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit (700 degrees Celsius). The multi-layered suits are made from Kevlar and carbon fiber with an aluminum coating and have built-in communications systems, fully-filtered external air supplies and internal air-cooling systems.

Pat McMahon, President and Chief Executive Officer of TIMEC said HRI had an outstanding brand and a strong operating model that would complement TIMEC’s current services provided to the process industry, offering at the same time an ideal platform for expansion in related sectors.

“HRI is a leader in the industry, with a unique proprietary system built upon technology of existing proximity suits used by the US Air Force and NASA, which enables personnel to access high-temperature, confined spaces, while utilizing a built-in communications system, a fully-filtered external air supply and an internal air-cooling system,” McMahon said.

“HRI is a strongly performing business with high customer retention rates leading to healthy organic growth. Most HRI’s customers are in the power-generation, steel-producing or oil-refining segments across the US and have used the company’s services since its inception in 1993,” he added.

McMahon indicated the acquisition of HRI, its systems, proven management and wide geographic footprint provides TIMEC with a low-risk expansion strategy across the US.

McMahon said HRI’s management was committed to TIMEC and to the success of the organization through the delivery of sustained quality service.
