DHT-3/H2 Plant Major Turnaround"The Carson facility recently completed a DHT-3/H2 plant major turnaround without a single medical treatment or 1st aid case. In addition the DHT-3/H2 plant turnaround was completed 12 hours ahead of schedule, with no leaks or maintenance issues during startup. TIMEC provided personnel to replace piping, remove and install all valves, open tanks and general turnaround support." "I want to recognize the efforts of DAVE LEWIS, DONNIE SHELTON and JOHN GUITERREZ during the DHT-3/H2 plant turnaround." "Dave Lewis was brought in to supervise scaffold building, setup the unit for turnaround and act as the General supervisor for all TIMEC personnel during the actual shutdown period. Dave has worked our turnarounds, in the past, in a safe, efficient and professional manner, the 2005 DHT-3/H2 plant turnaround was no exception. During the DHT-3/H2 plant turnaround Dave demonstrated excellent management skills and work ethics, setting an high standard for all TIMEC personnel. Dave also is a nice person and enjoyable to work with. Dave has a knowledge and energy not usual seen in today's turnaround environment, and in my opinion, a very valuable asset for TIMEC." "Donnie Shelton was tasked with all line print replacements. MEI issued 64 repair recommendation, requiring in excess of 800 shop welds and 125 field welds to complete. The line print repair package was identified as critical path. Donnie had to organize a fabrication shop and work closely with Operations to facilitate the field welding. Honestly, there were times during the turnaround when I thought we wouldn't complete the 125 field welds. Donnie, working with Operations, completed all scheduled field welding and actually complete several additional repairs 1 day ahead of schedule. Donnie, much like Dave, demonstrated excellent organizational skills and work ethics. Donnie worked well with the Operators assigned to assist with the field welding and executed a difficult job with little supervision." "John Guiterrez was asked to assume the role as logistical supervisor for the DHT-3/H2 plant turnaround. People familiar with turnarounds understand the importance of staging equipment, positioning work trailers and moving people safely around the refinery. John demonstrated initiative and worked well with other contractors and personnel. John, with experience, will make a good shutdown supervisor." In summary, good turnarounds don't just happen. It takes people like Dave, Donnie, John and the other TIMEC personnel that worked at our DHT-3/H2 plant to execute successful turnarounds. Turnaround Planning |
