TIMEC Gulf Coast Signs COIPA AgreementCHRIS LAMB, Gulf Coast General Manager put TIMEC Gulf Coast among a long list of prominent Contractor and Owner Groups in the Gulf Coast by agreeing to participate in the Contractor Owner Investment Program (COIPA). The Contractor Owner Investment Program is a program where contractors submit .04 per labor hour to the CMEF to help fund NCCER assessments and craft training at a local level. Some 1400 craft helpers attend training each year at the local junior colleges. The .04 per labor hour is reimbursed by the client where the work was performed. For example: When TIMEC is chosen to work at Shell or Exxon we will add a non competitive line item to the contract to invoice Shell or Exxon for the .04 per labor hour. In return we will send the funds to CMEF. Our employees can attend training for a small registration fee of $80.00 per semester class. All of the local community classes offer the NCCER curriculum in their vo-tech departments and the majority or contractors and owners from Mobil to Brownsville participate in a community training effort of this type. Hats off to Chris Lamb for bringing TIMEC Gulf Coast into the fold of the Owner recognized Workforce Development Program. |
